Unmoored from dogma, expectation,
Certainty, affiliation,
Identity and occupation,
A genteel asphyxiation.
Anchor cut, raging water,
Winds aloft, flotsam, splatter,
Maelstrom, sinew, fathoms deep,
Blackened sky, blackened sleep,
Into the fray, into the pit,
My weary frame, resigned I sit,
Waves and thunder, thrashing vessel,
Over, inward, onward, pulsing,
Into void, abyss, unknown,
Virtue ebbing, wretched yearning,
Pounding heart, gaping hole,
My beloved, my beloved,
Where to go, to breathe, to rest,
To sail the storm to unseen harbor,
Tempest take me, toss me, lest
I hear the sirens’ lulling song,
Of soma silence on the sea,
Shell of who we used to be
Imprisoned, hollow, vacant, brittle,
Shut my ears, fling me skyward,
Spread my sail and send me through
These darkened skies, pealing thunder,
Tie me to my mast and take me,
Unmoored, undaunted and undone.
